The Next New Media

I would like to see a new media that allowed for people with visual and hearing impediments to interact. Maybe a site that integrates technology and new media to make it easier for them to meet other people, share their experiences, learn, play and facilitate their integration to society. Something similar to Facebook or Twitter that includes options like automatic reading out loud of posts in their profiles, videos that detect what a person is saying and subtitle the content in real time, games according to the impediments. I believe this will be beneficial for this portion of our society.

  1. That's a great idea. The wonders and benefits of social networking platforms and new media are usually though to be enjoyed by all,but we frequently forget that people with visual or hearing impediments can't enjoy these resources to the extent that other people can. A technology that would allow them to join in on the fun would make the world a better place.

  2. Thats a great idea. For many reasons. I always felt like new media kind of leaves out those who are physically impaired. This new media you talk about would be beyond beneficial to them, they will get to know what it is to be able to be "in the loop". We might be able to see this happen in the near future.

  3. I love this idea! Physically/mentally/any kind of impairment has a stigma in society and for some reason disallows people to help. Without the conversation starting, it is hard to really solve a problem. This actually sounds like an idea that would actually be beneficial to the world, rather than some leisure-inspired type of new media. Hopefully something of this sort will be introduced, or maybe has been.

  4. Really good idea! I think its the time we start thinking about everyone in the global society. I have seen in news that some disabled kids have their own Robot whicj goes to school for them so that the kids can interact with the rest of the class using camera and screen of robot.
